The Technology Support Assistant provides day-to-day technical support for Fountain Lake School District staff, students, and district technology systems. This position is responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing user accounts, supporting network-connected devices, maintaining district technology equipment, and providing exceptional customer service to end users. The Technology Support Assistant reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Create, modify, and disable staff and student user accounts.

Process employee and student name changes across district systems.

Manage user permissions and access requests.

Assist with password resets and account troubleshooting.

Serve as the primary responder for technology help desk tickets.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printer, and connectivity issues.
-
Provide in-person, phone, and remote support to district staff and students.

Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, chromebooks.
-
Assist users with Microsoft Windows, macOS, and district-approved software applications.

Support and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems for Apple devices.

Manage print servers and district printing infrastructure.
-
Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot printers and copiers.
-
Program and support VoIP phone systems, including extension assignments and changes.

Program and manage district intercom systems.
-
Create and manage electronic key fobs and access control credentials.
-
Assist with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wired and wireless network infrastructure.

Support network equipment including switches, wireless access points, and related devices.

Assist with technology projects and district-wide deployments.

Participate in summer technology maintenance and upgrades.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Strong customer service and communication skills.
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Windows Server, VM’s, and Apple macOS.

Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues.
-
Ability to lift and move technology equipment up to 50 pounds.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Associate degree or technical certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or related field.

Experience supporting Active Directory environments.

Experience with Apple device management (MDM).
-
Experience supporting VoIP phone systems.

Experience with wireless networking and network infrastructure.
-
Experience with security cameras, access control systems, or educational technology environments.

Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Apple, Microsoft, Google, or similar certifications are preferred.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
