Position Summary:
The Direct Material Sourcing Lead will be responsible for managing the procurement of construction/industrial related materials, ensuring quality, on time delivery and cost-effectiveness. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and collaboration with internal departments to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies for construction and industrial‑related materials.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure reliable supply chains.
- Monitor market trends and commodity prices to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with estimating, production, engineering, and logistics teams to forecast material requirements and manage inventory levels.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts and supplier performance evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Lead and mentor the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Partner with quality teams to ensure incoming material standards and supplier quality requirements are met.
- Drive ERP and purchasing system enhancements to improve overall procurement efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the construction or industrial manufacturing environments
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications like CPM or CPSM.
- Knowledge of steel grades and specifications.
