Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Grapple Truck Operator to join our construction and materials handling team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating grapple trucks equipped with hydraulic cranes to load, unload, and transport heavy materials efficiently and securely across construction sites, warehouses, and shipping facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of crane operation, load handling procedures, and safety regulations to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to OSHA standards. The ideal applicant will bring a combination of mechanical knowledge, construction experience, and a commitment to safety excellence.
Responsibilities
- Operate grapple trucks with hydraulic cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials accurately on construction sites or within warehouse environments.
- Follow load securing rigging methods to ensure safe transportation of materials, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections of the crane, hydraulics, lifting equipment, and safety gear prior to operation to identify potential issues.
- Coordinate with team members to plan lifting sequences and ensure efficient workflow while maintaining safety standards.
- Comply with construction workplace safety regulations, including the implementation of OSHA safety standards during all operations.
- Handle materials such as steel beams, lumber, pallets, or other heavy loads using appropriate rigging techniques.
- Operate related heavy equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, excavators, boom trucks, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in shipping & receiving tasks by loading or unloading materials safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all safety equipment is used correctly at all times and report any unsafe conditions immediately.
Experience
- Proven experience operating grapple trucks or boom trucks in construction or warehouse settings.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to hydraulics, cranes, lifting equipment, and load handling procedures.
- Demonstrated understanding of crane operation including overhead cranes and material handling equipment operation.
- Familiarity with construction site safety regulations and OSHA safety standards.
- Experience with rigging techniques for load securing and handling various types of loads safely.
- Prior work involving heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, excavators, backhoes, or similar machinery.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures within industrial or construction environments.
- Construction workplace experience emphasizing safety protocol adherence and materials handling efficiency.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory; relevant driving experience in commercial settings is essential.
