American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring neuro and trauma care experience, ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications, and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the K7 floor of a hospital in Asheville, NC
-
44-bed unit with a typical patient ratio of 4:1, stretching to 5:1

Neuro and trauma stepdown patient population
-
Common procedures include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump, IV infusions, lumbar drain, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions

Equipment used includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts

EMR: Cerner
-
Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
-
Every other weekend required

Floating to stepdown and med-surg units required
-
13-week contract

Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the assignment start)

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or progressive care nursing experience

Neuro and trauma care experience required

Cerner EMR experience preferred

US SSN and date of birth required for consideration

One professional reference required (two required if candidate is licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Day shift staffing grid includes 2 charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC for team support

Navy blue scrubs required

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
