Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Limestone Skidway Worker to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for moving, positioning, and finishing limestone materials throughout the fabrication process, with a strong focus on "bug and rub" stone finishing techniques. You will work alongside experienced limestone sawyers and limestone cutters in a fast-paced production environment where craftsmanship and attention to detail are expected every day. This is a hands-on, skilled trades position that plays a critical role in ensuring our stone products meet the quality standards our customers depend on.
Key Responsibilities
· Safely handle, lift, and position limestone dimensional pieces using hand tools, lifting equipment, and team lifts.
· Perform bug and rub finishing techniques on cut limestone surfaces to achieve specified textures and surface profiles per project requirements.
· Inspect finished stone surfaces for quality, uniformity, and compliance with job specifications
· Assist sawyers and cutters with material staging, product movement, and general shop support as needed.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
· Comply with all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines at all times.
· Communicate material readiness, production status, and any quality concerns to the Foreman in a timely manner.
· Support general stone production duties as directed, including loading, unloading, and staging materials for outgoing shipments.
· Participate in team meetings, safety trainings, and certification renewals as required.
Qualifications
· Demonstrated hands-on experience with bug and rub stone finishing techniques — this is a firm requirement for this position.
· Prior experience in a stone fabrication, masonry, or related production environment.
· Ability to safely operate skidway equipment and basic material handling tools.
· Physical ability to perform the duties of the role, including frequent lifting, standing, bending, and working in varying environmental conditions.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality surface finishes.
· Ability to read and follow verbal instructions.
· Reliable attendance and punctuality
· Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to:
· Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly; team-lift heavier materials with assistance.
· Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods
· Work with hands and power tools in repetitive motion tasks.
· Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves, and dust masks.
· Work in a production environment that includes stone dust, noise, and exposure to outdoor temperatures.
