Subsidiary: Steel Dynamics Overview:
Develop and execute engineering solutions for operation and enhancement of steel processing equipment. This is a technical support role for the operations and maintenance team. The majority of this role will be performed on the mill floor working with operations and maintenance teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support of multiple steel processing departments

Ensure safe and proper operation of processing lines per manufacturer operation and safety guidelines

Addressing production improvement requests from the operations team
- Responding to out-of-service equipment issues

Developing downtime reduction strategies
-
Programming system visualization and controls according to specifications

Maintain backups of all software related to mill operation and support systems

Develop technicians troubleshooting skills and programming skills
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills ·
- Excellent safety and attendance record ·
- Required to be available any time day or night to take calls and call-in's. ·
- Technical degree in field of Electrical Engineering or similar ·
- Experience in:
- Power Distribution systems

AC/DC Circuitry Components
-
Programming and configuration of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC): Siemens PLCs, Step 7 Simatic Manager and TIA Portal

Variable Frequency Drives (VFD): TMEIC or Siemens
Experience/Prefrences

PC and Control System Networking and Industrial Communications Systems

Experience with SMS Group Automation Systems including XPact Controllers

Proficiency using LogiCAD

Hydraulic & Pneumatic controls

Know and understand electrical principles and electronics

Knowledge of diverse electrical equipment
