Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated experienced and dependable Over the Road Box Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating a box truck to deliver goods across various routes, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries while maintaining excellent customer service. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a box truck for long-distance deliveries across designated routes, adhering strictly to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and traffic laws.
- Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques or material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns, maintaining compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate effectively using mobile devices to coordinate deliveries, update delivery statuses, and report any route or vehicle issues promptly.
- Load and unload goods efficiently while practicing safe lifting practices and heavy lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
- Provide exceptional customer service by delivering goods accurately, on time, and with professionalism, fostering positive relationships with clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, including delivery logs, manifests, and incident reports as needed for compliance and record-keeping purposes.
Skills
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with box trucks or similar vehicles used for delivery purposes.
- Warehouse experience combined with knowledge of warehouse operations and material handling equipment operation such as pallet jacks.
- Strong understanding of manual transmission driving and the ability to operate heavy vehicles safely under various conditions.
- Familiarity with route driving, adhering to traffic regulations, and managing delivery schedules efficiently.
- Excellent manual handling skills with an emphasis on safe lifting practices during load & unload activities.
- Customer service orientation with clear communication skills to interact professionally with clients during deliveries.
- Ability to handle weight properly in the workplace while following DOT regulations related to weight handling in the workplace.
