QUALIFICATIONS
HS diploma/GED required with two years bartending experience. Ability to be flexible and work in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal, communications and leadership skills essential. Evidence of understanding and empathy for the veteran population. General knowledge of state ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) laws, local health regulations, food safety protocol, OSHA requirements, and state gaming commissions compliance. NYS Driver’s License required.
SUMMARY
This is a non-supervisory position that maintains the processes and systems put in place by the executive board of directors. Ability to be flexible and work in a team environment. This is a hands-on customer service position primarily responsible for performing beverage and food preparation services along with performing other related duties to ensure the business functions of the Post’s bar lounge are successful. Candidates must be enthusiastic and provide excellent member and guest experiences. Compensation includes hourly pay plus tips. This position requires some lifting as well as walking and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 30lbs.
REPORTS TO
The lead bartender reports to the executive board of directors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in managing and maintaining inventory of food, beverages, bar/kitchen related items, and cleaning supplies.
- Assist with preparing bartenders’ shift tills with sufficient funds and accountability.
- Assistance with maintaining the existing schedule and assisting with finding coverage as needed.
- Taking, preparing, and serving beverage orders for patrons.
- Mixing beverages using a range of ingredients including liquor, bitter, soda water sugar and fruits.
- Taking, preparing, and serving (both on premise or “to-go”) food items to include snacks, appetizers, and meals listed on the bar’s menu and/or daily special board.
- Keeping a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware and other accessories.
- Slicing, pitting and preparing fruit garnishes for drinks.
- Cleaning the bar, tables, chairs, and work area to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
- Collecting money for served food and drinks.
- Pay out winnings for raffle machines.
- Balancing cash receipts.
- Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, preparing them efficiently, and building a rapport with all patrons.
- Check all patrons’ identification to confirm minimum age and American Legion membership.
- Comply with all food and beverage local, state, federal, and American Legion laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Identify belligerent patrons and, if required, work with management to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Monitor intoxication levels, making sure to responsibly cut off those who have had too much alcohol consumption.
- Perform other bartending duties as assigned by the Bar Manager.
CONDITIONS
Specific Duties are not all-inclusive and can be modified at the discretion of the Post Executive Board at anytime.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
