PROJECT MANAGER

Summary: The Project Manager serves as the Client’s Representative for capital projects at their site in Mobile and Baton Rouge, responsible for managing full project lifecycle execution from initiation through closeout. Ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards.
Essential Functions:
- Manage all phases of capital projects including scope development, budgeting, engineering/design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and closure.
- Oversee and coordinate construction contractors across piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil/structural disciplines.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture; participate in audits and contractor safety meetings with a goal of zero recordables.
- Develop bid packages and RFPs; evaluate and condition bids to ensure best-value vendor selection.
- Forecast and manage capital expenditures; track project performance using earned value metrics and EcoSys.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, purchasing) and external vendors/contractors.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records in compliance with company standards.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, and goods receipts for accuracy and alignment with project progress.
- Perform project controls including cost estimating, scheduling updates, and cost tracking.
- Perform other tasks as assigned or directed by the Orion manager and Client representative.
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven project management experience in capital project execution.
- Experience working Engineering degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience as determined through candidate evaluation.
- Strong knowledge of construction management and multi-discipline coordination
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and project performance metrics
- Understanding of chemical process operations and incident investigation procedures
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 for highly hazardous chemicals
- Understanding of Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) protocols
- Familiarity with EPA regulations (TSCA, SPCC plans) and environmental compliance requirements
- Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) methodologies and mechanical integrity programs
- Knowledge of hot work permits and contractor safety management in chemical facilities
- Familiarity with DCS/PLC process control systems preferred
- Familiarity with project management systems (e.g., EcoSys) preferred
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Proven personal commitment to Incident and Injury Free Operations with strong safety performance in safety-sensitive, industrial environments
- OSHA PSM training, PMP (Project Management Professional), ISO 9001 or GMP knowledge, or Six Sigma certification preferred
- Ability to work at client sites without sponsorship and comply with all site access, safety, and security requirements
- Valid driver's license with driving record meeting company standards and TWIC eligibility
- Ability to pass background checks, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, and ongoing/random testing per company and client policies
- Travel as needed to support project execution across sites, vendors, and suppliers

- Work assignment inside an operating plant which requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboard.
- Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder or up and down stairs.
- Must be able to drive a company vehicle to and from job sites or office locations.
- Must be able to attend job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility in a hot climate.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
