Job Description:
Roto-Rooter is seeking an experienced Lead Excavation Operator to join our team. This position requires a skilled operator who can not only handle heavy machinery but also manage and supervise an excavation crew. You will be responsible for overseeing excavation projects ensuring safety, and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, excavators, and trenchers, to perform residential and commercial excavation services

Lead and supervise excavation crew members, providing guidance, training, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols

Coordinate daily jobsite activities, including setting up and maintaining work areas, traffic control, and utility location

Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and utility layouts to plan and execute excavations accurately

Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure the timely completion of projects

Conduct inspections to assess job progress, address issues, and ensure quality work

Maintain equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance needs

Provide excellent customer service by communicating with customers on job progress and managing any concerns

Compensation:
Commission Rate: 18%–20%, based on performance
Commission Earnings: Typical commissions range from approximately $315–$350+ per dig, depending on performance
Annual safety bonus-based on achievement of specific safety and performance KPIs
