Human Resources Assistant
Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Assistant at Sumsion Business Law provides day-to-day support for all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, compensation administration, employee records, performance management, training coordination, and employee relations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee employee timesheets and time-off requests
- Manage and track employee compensation, bonuses, and performance reviews
- Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding
- Assist with trainings and events
- Partner with Payroll to report employee hours
- Maintain accurate records and enforce workplace processes and policies
- Assist with recruiting activities, including posting job openings, conducting reference checks, and background checks
- Help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and firm policies
- Prepare employment related documents including employee contracts
- Assist with employee recognition programs and wellness initiatives
- Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and payroll
Requirements:
- Minimum 30+ hours a week
- 2+ years experience in human resources, administration, payroll support, or closely related field preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Committed to a professional, respectful, and confidential approach when handling sensitive matters
- Human Resources degree or certification preferred
Physical Demands:
- Assist firm Interior Designer with loads and shipments on occasion
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
