We are searching for a Coffee Roaster and Grinder to join our team at Eximius! The roaster and Grinder is responsible for operating commercial roasting equipment to produce high-quality roasted coffee products in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, food safety requirements, and company specifications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, efficiency, and product quality throughout the roasting process.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial coffee roasting equipment according to established roast profiles and production schedules.
- Monitor roasting temperatures, times, and batch parameters to ensure product consistency and quality.
- Load green coffee beans into roasting equipment and transfer finished product to designated storage or packaging areas.
- Perform routine quality checks, including visual inspection, color analysis, aroma evaluation, and sample testing.
- Record production data, roast profiles, inventory usage, and quality control results accurately.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report maintenance concerns or operational issues.
- Observe temperature, humidity, pressure gauges, and product samples and adjust controls, such as thermostats and valves, to maintain prescribed operating conditions for specific stages. Set temperature and time controls, light ovens, burners, driers, or roasters, and start equipment, such as conveyors, cylinders, blowers, driers, or pumps.
- Follow all food safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and sanitation requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including daily cleaning of roasting equipment and production spaces.
- Assist with inventory management of green coffee, roasted coffee, and packaging materials.
- Support packaging, grinding, labeling, and other production activities as needed.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance and Production teams to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minumum of 2 years of manufacturing, food production, coffee roasting, or machine operator experience preferred.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete production documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout an entire shift.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and coffee aromas.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- This position operates within a food manufacturing and coffee production facility. Employees are regularly exposed to moving machinery, varying temperatures, coffee dust, and production noise. Strict adherence to food safety and safety procedures is required at all times.
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
