Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions, including sterile IV infusions and compounded medications.
- Assist pharmacists with medication inventory management, including stock replenishment and drug regulation compliance.
- Enter patient data into pharmacy software systems with precision, ensuring all records are up-to-date and compliant with state and federal laws.
- Support patient service initiatives by providing clear medication instructions and answering basic pharmacological questions.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and sterile IV admixture procedures during compounding and preparation.
- Ensure patient confidentiality at all times while handling sensitive health information in accordance with healthcare regulations.
- Assist in drug regulation audits, documentation, and ensuring pharmacy operations meet all regulatory standards for safety and quality.
Skills
- Proven experience in LTC (Long-Term Care), critical care, hospital, or community pharmacy environments.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, medical terminology, and pharmacological medical terminology.
- Skilled in using pharmacy software systems for data entry, medication tracking, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with sterile IV infusion techniques, aseptic procedures, and sterile compounding practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care and effective communication.
- Knowledge of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation laws, and pharmacy laws at the federal level.
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with hospital pharmacy operations including intake processes, medication administration support, and hospital-based drug management.
