Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Clerk to join our administrative team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, technical proficiency, and excellent communication abilities. As a Billing Clerk, you will manage billing processes, ensure accurate data entry, and support the financial operations of our organization while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
Responsibilities
- · Ensure the accuracy and audit verification of receivable records.
- · Input data for computerized processing of patient accounts receivable transactions.
- · Collect and accurately record of patient and insurance payments per established procedure.
- · Participate in training as scheduled by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor in order to meet reimbursement requirements, automated receivable systems requirements and reporting criteria.
- · Complete patient billings per established Hegira Health, Inc. procedures and as scheduled by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor.
- · Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
- · Maintain and file all patient billing, accounting, deposit and reporting records.
- · Communicate to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor any and all deviations from Hegira Programs, Inc.'s policy and procedures regarding collections and the reporting of service activity.
- · Perform monthly statusing of all patient collections to ensure the timely, accurate resolution of problems and smooth processing of receivables.
- · Work with clinic staff and clients regarding issues of data collection, resolution of first and third party balances, therapist reimbursement, etc.
- · Recommend to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor methods for the improvement of collection, routing and documentation responsibilities.
- · Promote an active, aggressive receivables posture to ensure that all fees are collected and programming requirements regarding collections are met or exceeded.
- · Assist with other general clerical tasks, including telephone and general office reception, as requested.
- · Maintain patient confidentiality per federal guidelines and the policy and procedures of Hegira Health, Inc.
- · Available for any additional responsibilities and assignments as determined necessary by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor.
- · Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manuals of Hegira Health, Inc.
Physical Requirements
- · Regular and reliable on-site attendance and punctuality is required.
- · Must have adequate visual acuity to interact with computer software and telephone
- · Must be able to sit more than 75% of work period.
- · Must be able to interact with colleagues, vendors and external vendors frequently via telephone, email or in person.
Experience
- Proven clerical or administrative experience within a healthcare or office environment.
- Prior experience with bookkeeping, medical or dental reception, or medical office management is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace applications.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software and spreadsheet management tools.
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to perform data entry accurately and efficiently.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse client populations.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in proofreading, filing, and document management.
- One year of medical billing is required
