Our drivers play a key role in keeping food waste out of landfills and supporting a more sustainable, circular local economy.
Position Overview
The Part‑Time Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles to collect food waste from commercial and residential customers. This role combines driving and warehouse work. Ideal candidates are dependable, punctual, and excited about environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate KC Can Compost vehicles along assigned collection routes
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspections
- Pull and push wheeled carts and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Maintain clean, organized vehicles and equipment
- Track route progress using mobile app
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members
- Report route issues, contamination, or equipment needs
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws
- Maintain equipment and supply inventories
- Deliver equipment and supplies
- Assist with warehouse tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Valid Class E driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- Clean driving record
- Comfort driving box trucks and medium duty trucks
- Strong reliability and time‑management skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to sustainability
- Experience in delivery, waste management, or route driving is a plus
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
Work Environment
- Outdoor and indoor work in varying weather conditions
- Physical activity including lifting, bending, and walking
- Independent route work with support from the operations team
