About the Opportunity
Paulson-Cheek Mechanical (PCM) is seeking a highly skilled and proven Senior Mechanical Superintendent to lead large-scale commercial and industrial HVAC and plumbing projects throughout the Charlotte market and surrounding regions.
This is a high-impact field leadership role responsible for overseeing complex projects from mobilization through turnover while driving safety, quality, productivity, and schedule execution at the highest level.
The ideal candidate is a respected field leader with extensive experience managing large crews, coordinating alongside major trade partners, and successfully delivering complex mechanical construction projects in fast-paced environments.
What You’ll DoField Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead all field operations for large-scale HVAC and plumbing construction projects
- Manage and direct:
- Superintendents
- Assistant Superintendents
- Foremen
- Trade labor and subcontractors
- Ensure all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules and quality standards
- Maintain strong field presence and accountability across all phases of construction
Scheduling & Coordination
- Lead pull planning and short-interval scheduling efforts with project teams
- Coordinate closely with:
- General contractors
- Owners
- Vendors and suppliers
- Trade partners including electrical contractors
- Identify and proactively resolve:
- Constructability issues
- Field conflicts
- Scheduling delays
- Manpower challenges
Operational Oversight
- Assist operations and project management teams with:
- Workforce planning
- Material coordination
- Equipment logistics
- Productivity tracking
- Monitor project progress and maintain accurate reporting from the field
- Drive accountability among field leadership teams to maintain production goals
Quality & Safety
- Enforce all company safety standards and project-specific safety requirements
- Conduct routine site inspections and quality assurance reviews
- Ensure installation aligns with:
- Plans and specifications
- Code requirements
- Commissioning expectations
- Maintain organized, professional, and safety-focused jobsites
Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and develop:
- Field engineers
- Assistant Superintendents
- Foremen and emerging field leaders
- Promote a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork throughout the field organization
What We’re Looking For
- 10–15+ years of experience within:
- Mechanical construction
- HVAC construction
- Plumbing construction
- Commercial or industrial construction operations
- Proven experience leading:
- Large-scale commercial projects
- Industrial/manufacturing projects
- Mission-critical, healthcare, or complex institutional projects preferred
- Strong understanding of:
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing systems
- Construction sequencing
- Field productivity and scheduling
- Ability to manage large crews and multiple field leaders simultaneously
- Strong communication and leadership presence
