St. Paul Preschool is a ministry of St. Paul UMC whose mission is to provide quality childcare services and early learning programs grounded in Christian principles and standards. Our primary focus is fostering a positive environment for every child with a loving attitude, respect, and support of their character development. We provide a well-balanced program of activities and developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster all areas of growth and development, serving the communities with high quality care.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child Care Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have their Child Development Associate (CDA), have a strong background in early childhood education, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. The Child Care Teacher will be responsible for implementing engaging educational activities, managing classroom behavior, and promoting the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children.
Our teaching staff is hired according to the standards we have set, as well as standards set by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our present teaching staff is certified in First Aid and CPR for infants and children within 90 days of employment. All of our classrooms have a lead teacher and assistant teacher who work together to support our students.
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and be passionate about childcare as well as demonstrate the ability to build positive relationships with young children and an awareness of developmentally appropriate practices.
Responsibilities:
- Always ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, being alert for their needs as individuals and as a group
- Support children's development through planning activities and curriculum
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns
- Maintain an exciting and enriching learning environment for children
- Collaborate with other educators to enhance the overall educational experience for children
Requirements:
- Early Childhood Education degree, Bachelor's Degree, CDA, or equivalent experience (preferred)
- CPR/First Aid Certified within 90 days of employment
- Must be able to pass a Background Check
- Have personal/reliable transportation
