Experienced Handyman Needed for Private Residence (Long-Term Relationship, Flexible Hours)
We are seeking a reliable, experienced handyman to become our trusted, long-term resource for maintaining a private residence. This is not a full-time or regularly scheduled weekly position. Instead, we're looking for someone who is interested in building an ongoing working relationship with our family and serving as our go-to handyman for both preventative maintenance and occasional repairs.
Initially, there will be a number of larger repair and maintenance projects to complete, providing more consistent hours over the first week or so. Once those projects have been addressed, the role will transition to quarterly preventative maintenance visits, with additional work available as repair needs or unexpected issues arise.
Responsibilities
- Complete a quarterly home maintenance inspection and checklist
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine home repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair general household issues
- Address occasional emergency or time sensitive maintenance needs
- Identify potential concerns before they become larger, more costly problems
- Communicate clearly regarding completed work, recommended repairs, and needed supplies
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong general handyman experience
- Working knowledge of:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Carpentry
- General home systems maintenance
- Ability to troubleshoot independently and recommend practical solutions
- Reliable, professional, detail oriented, and trustworthy
- Comfortable working in a private residence
- Own tools and reliable transportation preferred
- Licensed and insured preferred, but not required for the right candidate
Schedule
- More frequent hours initially to complete existing repair and maintenance projects
- After the initial projects are completed, scheduled quarterly maintenance visits
- Occasional on call availability for repair or emergency situations as needed
Compensation
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience and skill level
