Join our team as a Nursery Material Handler and play a vital role in getting beautiful plants from our holding yard to landscapes across the Portland area. This is a full-time, physically demanding position at the heart of our operations. Youll work primarily at our nursery holding yard and on the road, driving box trucks to pick up and deliver plant material across the Portland region. Physical labor and heavy lifting are a major component of this job you must be comfortable regularly lifting 2075 lbs and loading/unloading plant material by hand. More than 60% of your workday will involve active manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions. Hours are typically regular business hours throughout the busy season (March through December), with reduced hours in January and February during our slower winter season.

Drive company box trucks to vendors and job sites to pick up and deliver plant material

Load and unload plants by hand, securing loads carefully to prevent damage

Deliver materials and equipment to other divisions, assisting with loading/unloading using safe lifting practices

Maintain the nursery holding yard by weeding, picking up debris, and using cleanup equipment

Perform plant maintenance including pruning, watering, and fertilizing to keep stock healthy

Operate the irrigation system and troubleshoot basic issues to maintain proper moisture levels\

Verify quantity and quality of incoming plant material against order lists

Communicate shortages or quality concerns to Buyers via email, phone, or Monday.com

Sort and organize plant material by job, label inventory, and pull material for delivery using strong attention to detail

12 years of experience driving a company vehicle, cargo van, or box truck

Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record; ability to obtain and maintain a medical examiners certificate

Demonstrated ability to perform heavy physical labor you must be comfortable regularly lifting 2075 lbs and occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs with team assistance

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including rain, wind, heat, and cold

Basic computer skills (email, Excel, Monday.com)

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures

Physical labor experience in landscaping, nursery, construction, roofing, or a similar field

Bilingual (Spanish)

Forklift experience

Full-time position, regular business hours (schedule may vary early or late depending on route)
