Overview
Forge Signworks is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Estimator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is experienced or early in their career and enjoys problem-solving, working with numbers, and learning how custom products are designed and manufactured.
As an Estimator, you will prepare project estimates and competitive proposals for a wide variety of custom signage projects, including interior signs, exterior signs, architectural signage, illuminated signs, wayfinding systems, and large-format branding solutions. You'll work closely with our sales, project management, production, vendors, and clients to ensure every estimate is accurate, competitive, and aligned with customer expectations.

Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for custom signage and branding projects by reviewing drawings, specifications, site surveys, and customer requirements.
- Analyze materials, labor, fabrication time, equipment, permitting, installation, and subcontractor costs to develop accurate project pricing.
- Collaborate with sales staff, project managers, designers, and production teams to ensure project scope and pricing align with manufacturing capabilities and customer expectations.
- Review architectural drawings, sign programs, and technical documents to identify project requirements, potential challenges, and cost impacts.
- Obtain and negotiate pricing from suppliers, fabricators, subcontractors, and installers to maintain competitive pricing while meeting quality standards.
- Assist in developing value engineering solutions and alternative fabrication methods to improve project profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, quotes, revisions, and project documentation.
- Monitor awarded projects against estimated costs and assist with cost tracking and adjustments when necessary.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, pricing databases, and production efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Eagerness to learn new software, processes, and technical information.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with large-format printing, illuminated signage, CNC fabrication, or ADA signage is a plus, but not required.
- Hands-on manufacturing or installation experience is highly valued but not required.
- Previous estimating experience in the sign industry, construction, fabrication, manufacturing, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
- Strong understanding of sign manufacturing processes, materials, and installation methods is highly desirable, but not required.
- Experience with estimating software, NetSuite ERP, DOMO, or similar business software is preferred, but not required.
