The Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) at VTC located in Roanoke, VA is seeking a full-time Receptionist and Administrative Assistant.
Reporting to the Executive Office Operations Director, this position will serve as a receptionist for the Institute and also provide administrative support to the Chief Health Sciences Growth and Innovation Officer, and Chief Financial Officer for the FBRI and Associate Vice President for Finance and Operations for Virginia Tech Health Sciences & Technology.

While providing administrative support to the Chief Health Sciences Growth and Innovation Officer, and Chief Financial Officer and Associate Vice President for Finance and Operations, the primary responsibilities include:
Qualifications
- Proven experience in an administrative or clerical role within an office environment; prior experience as a receptionist or in customer service is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), and familiarity with productivity software.
- Excellent phone etiquette skills with experience managing multi-line phone systems; bilingual abilities are a plus for effective client communication.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience with data entry, filing systems (physical and digital), and basic bookkeeping using QuickBooks or similar programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to provide outstanding customer support at the front desk and via phone communication.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating professionalism and patience.
- Knowledge of office management procedures including calendar management, document proofreading, and filing practices.
- Personal assistant or medical/dental receptionist experience is advantageous but not required; relevant technical proficiency is essential.
