We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee shop production employees and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This position will lead daily production activities, manage employees and resources, maintain production schedules, and promote a positive, productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct shop production employees, providing clear instructions and guidance.
- Establish production goals and ensure schedules and deadlines are met.
- Train, develop, and coach employees while supporting succession planning.
- Handle employee performance, counseling, disciplinary matters, and related HR issues.
- Assign work, establish standards, and monitor employee performance.
- Develop and maintain production schedules while coordinating manpower, materials, and procedures.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly maintained and available for production.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, and written work procedures.
- Apply strong mechanical and technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Monitor production processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Maintain quality standards and enforce employee self-check procedures.
- Enforce safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and reports.
- Utilize SAP for manpower and materials management.
- Coordinate effectively with management, supervisors, and other departments.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of production processes.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical or production-related issues.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of English and Metric measurement systems.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computers and experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to remain active and mobile throughout the production floor.
