SUMMARY
Supervise and direct all new secondary tooling (plan, design, builds, launch, improve, etc.) activities for both in‑house
and external secondary tooling vendors.
CRITICAL VITAL ACTIVITIES (Duties/Responsibilities)
Ensure that program timing for secondary tooling execution is achievable and ultimately met.
Participate in new project design reviews. Representing and giving Assembly related input to the Product Design.
Create and Maintain Process Flow Diagrams and PFMEA.
Create and maintain the secondary tooling assumption plan (Assembly tooling assumption plan). Documenting the mechanical and electrical details of each piece of equipment.
Distribute the assumptions along with request for quotes to vendors.
Work with Vendors to optimize assumptions document to fall within budget constraints.
Monitoring and guide the vendor design process. Insuring equipment design will meet all stakeholders’ requirements
Ensure that new secondary tooling is built to company Equipment Standards.
Monitor and guide the vendor during the construct of the equipment. Insuring the equipment assumptions are met.
Ensure Project Timming is achieved.
Execute engineering changes and equipment modifications within available budget meeting production and new project
requirements.
Participate in secondary tool tryouts at equipment suppliers, internally and with outside suppliers addressing all concerns.
Deliver and launch equipment within plant seeking buyoff and handoff to manufacturing
This role is withing the new projects engineering organization and is not a position within manufacturing therefore it does not include ongoing project improvements or daily plant related tasks.
This role is a mechanical role not a Programming role, PLC programming would be beneficial to role but is not the intent of the role.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four‑year college or university in a technical field, preferably electrical, mechanical or manufacturing
engineering; or 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in launching Screw feeders, Screw Guns, component feeders, transfer lines, component fixturing, sensors, and vision systems.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental
regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of
technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Contribute to and Follow all applicable Standards including – SDS Handbook, SDS QSP, SMR Standards, DWI’s, Design Guidelines, Forms, and Resins.
