About MedSpan Associates
MedSpan Associates — the operating name of Williamsburg Internal Medicine, P.C. (WIM) — is a well-established, patient-centered, multi-specialty medical practice that has served the Williamsburg community of Brooklyn for more than 30 years. Founded in the early 1980s by internists Dr. Sixto Caro and Dr. Nalbanian, the practice has grown into a multidisciplinary clinic that anchors primary care with on-site and affiliated specialties including internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, surgery, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, physical therapy, and diagnostic services.
Located in a modern, fully accessible building at 231 South 3rd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211, MedSpan operates as a Patient-Centered Medical Home and is deeply rooted in its culturally rich, largely bilingual neighborhood. With multilingual doctors and staff, acceptance of most insurance plans, and a strong tradition of community engagement — annual health fairs, free health-education seminars, and humanitarian medical missions — we are committed to delivering compassionate, accessible, high-quality care to patients of all ages. We are growing our team to better serve our many Spanish-speaking patients.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
As a Bilingual Spanish Family Nurse Practitioner, you will provide high-quality primary and outpatient care to a diverse, largely Spanish-speaking patient population across the full lifespan — from pediatric patients to adults and older adults. Your day-to-day will include:
- Providing comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, from children through adults and seniors, as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Performing women's health examinations and well-woman visits, including gynecological exams, Pap smears, breast exams, contraceptive counseling, and related preventive screenings.
- Conducting comprehensive health assessments, physical exams, and patient histories for new and returning patients.
- Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma) across the lifespan.
- Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests and labs, and developing evidence-based treatment plans.
- Prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with New York State scope of practice.
- Delivering preventive care, health screenings, immunizations, and patient education for children and adults.
- Communicating directly with Spanish-speaking patients and families in fluent Spanish — no interpreter required — to ensure clear, culturally responsive care.
- Documenting visits accurately and promptly in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and support staff to coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
- Supporting continuity of care and building trusted, long-term relationships with patients and families.
