MTCI HealthCare Services is seeking compassionate and experienced Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to provide high-quality, on-site patient care to veterans within the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
In this role, you will support nursing staff and clinical teams by delivering direct patient care in a hospital and clinical environment while ensuring safety, dignity, and comfort for all patients.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
Monitor, record, and report vital signs, intake/output, and patient observations
Provide mobility assistance, including safe patient transfers using proper techniques and equipment
Maintain a clean, safe, and infection-controlled environment
Prepare and organize equipment and supplies for clinical procedures
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
Accurately document patient care using VA electronic medical record systems
Follow all VA policies, procedures, and safety protocols
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Nursing Assistant (hospital or acute care setting preferred)
Certifications (Required):
Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Core Competencies
Strong patient care and bedside support skills
Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Work Schedule & Availability
VA facilities operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. All shifts are 8 hours.
No on-call requirements
No overtime or holiday pay authorized
Contractors must be available for assigned shifts
Current Shift Openings by LocationPalo Alto:
3:30 PM – Midnight
11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
Menlo Park:
7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
3:30 PM – Midnight
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing care within VA healthcare systems
Prior hospital or clinical experience
Ability to manage patient care in high-volume environments
Familiarity with federal healthcare systems and protocols
