The Contracts Specialist provides clerical and administrative support for the bidding, procurement, and contract management process. This position serves as a point of contact for contract-related inquiries and assists in maintaining the contract management system, ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and procurement requirements. The work is performed under general supervision, with latitude for independent judgment when responding to routine internal and external inquiries. This position does not supervise staff.

This is a NYS HELPS approved title for W-FL BOCES through NYS Civil Service. Similar to non-competitive positions, this temporary approval waives the examination requirement for this title for all hires made during this temporary period. Interested candidates who are approved by the Ontario County Civil Service for the title based off of the required qualifications and experience outlined in the job description will be eligible for a probationary appointment if selected.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND
- Four (4) years of full-time paid experience (or part-time equivalent) in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or a closely related field
Substitution
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, public administration, or a closely related field may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours equals one year of experience, up to a maximum of four years).
Additional Requirements
- Degrees must be from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
