Akona is seeking a Project Manager to be based out of our Monroe, NC Manufacturing facility. This role serves as the primary point of contact between the customer and the manufacturing organization, owning projects from order receipt through shipment.
This is a critical execution role. Success in this position directly impacts customer satisfaction, internal coordination, and overall project performance. The ideal candidate is high-energy, approachable, confident, and comfortable driving clarity and accountability across teams.
Position Summary
The expeditor's job is to keep projects moving by ensuring:
- Engineering releases drawings
- Customers approve submittals
- Change orders get processed
- Production dates stay visible
- Internal teams respond when something is stuck
Typical Responsibilities
A Project Expeditor in a manufacturing / engineered product company will:
Customer Communication
- Provide project updates
- Communicate expected ship dates
- Explain delays or changes
- Track drawing approvals
Engineering Coordination
- Push engineering to release drawings
- Ensure design questions get resolved
- Track submittals and approvals
Change Management
- Handle change orders
- Coordinate revisions between engineering and customers
Production Visibility
- Confirm when a project enters production
- Track ship expectations
- Communicate readiness
Internal Pressure
- Escalate stuck approvals
- Push teams to respond
- Keep projects from falling into gaps
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of contact for assigned customer orders from kickoff through shipment
- Own project scope, schedule, and communication to ensure smooth execution and on-time delivery
- Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, planning, production, and shipping
- Manage projects supporting the Kason and Spiroflow product lines, including controls-related coordination
- Provide occasional project support for the Cablevey and Marion product lines
- Proactively identify risks, constraints, and changes and drive timely resolution
- Maintain clear, professional communication with customers and internal stakeholders

Qualifications
- - 6 - 8 years of Project Management experience
- -Experience working in or around a manufacturing environment a must
