Our client a construction company in Springfield, MA is looking for a Estimator on a direct hire basis. This Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and supporting the bid process by analyzing construction drawings, specifications, and subcontractor proposals. This role collaborates closely with project teams, subcontractors, and design professionals to ensure accurate, competitive, and complete project pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including quantity take-offs and scope analysis
- Develop bids and proposals
- Analyze drawings, specifications, logistics, schedules, and construction methods
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor proposals
- Coordinate scope coverage to prevent gaps and overlaps between trades
- Perform value engineering and cost-saving analysis
- Compare current estimates with prior estimates for accuracy and trend tracking
- Manage post-bid action items and assist in finalizing subcontract scopes
- Serve as a liaison between subcontractors, design teams, and clients
- Distribute information to assigned trade partners and support project coordination
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of related estimating or construction experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general estimating software/tools
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Able to work independently, follow complex instructions, and exercise sound judgment
