Our ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering & has 4+ years of utility-scale substation [PHYSICAL] design. Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Illinois is a plus!

Essential Duties:
-
Develop and oversee the production of complete substation physical design packages, including:
- General arrangements, elevation views, cross-sections, grounding plans, conduit and cable plans, and equipment layouts.

Construction drawings, specifications, Bills of Material (BOM), and design calculations.
- Specify high-voltage substation equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnect switches, transformers, buswork, and support structures.

Perform engineering calculations for bus sizing, grounding, lightning protection, and thermal ratings.

Support the engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost and assist in estimating materials, equipment, and labor.

Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate completion.

Delegate and oversee design tasks assigned to Technicians, Designers, and Staff Engineers.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and support their training and development.

Coordinate with civil, structural, protection & control, and SCADA teams to ensure integrated and constructible designs.

Collaborate with owners, contractors, and field personnel to resolve design clarifications, conflicts, and changes during construction.

Conduct site visits for data collection, constructability reviews, inspections, and as-built documentation.

Support proposal development, project budgeting, billing, and accounts receivable tracking.

Participate in business development activities and client engagement as needed.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC, ASCE) and company safety policies.

May sign/seal drawings or other required documentation based on division and firm policies
