Are you a maintenance leader who thrives in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment? We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to lead mechanical maintenance operations, drive equipment reliability, and develop high-performing maintenance teams at a large-scale manufacturing facility.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity where you'll partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, and Planning to maximize equipment availability, improve maintenance performance, and support capital improvement initiatives.
- Lead all mechanical maintenance activities for a designated production area
- Supervise hourly maintenance employees and contractors in a union manufacturing environment
- Ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and at peak performance while minimizing production downtime
- Develop and execute preventive, predictive, autonomous, and corrective maintenance strategies
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations to minimize production interruptions
- Lead shutdowns, outages, and turnaround planning while maximizing labor efficiency
- Partner with Maintenance Planners and Specialists to prioritize work orders and improve maintenance execution
- Review equipment history, analyze failures, and drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to eliminate recurring issues
- Support Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Manage maintenance costs while supporting annual maintenance budget planning
- Monitor KPIs related to equipment reliability, maintenance performance, and operating costs
- Improve maintenance methods, planning, scheduling, and overall plant efficiency
- Identify long-term equipment risks and recommend capital improvements and reliability upgrades
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience leading maintenance teams in cement, aggregates, mining, steel, power generation, chemical, petrochemical, pulp & paper, or similar heavy manufacturing industries
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-based maintenance programs
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), statistical downtime analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with CMMS systems such as SAP, Maximo, or similar maintenance software
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment, conveyors, crushers, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other heavy industrial mechanical equipment
- Proven ability to manage maintenance budgets, contractors, shutdown planning, and cross-functional maintenance operations
