Position Summary
- Responsible for attending to the medication needs of the patients and provide drug information to patients, pharmacists, physicians, nurses and other hospital staff.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (Registered) or
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (Clinical)
Licenses and Certification
- Illinois license of Pharmacy
- (225 ILCS 85/6 – 225 ILCS 85/8; 68 IL ADC 1330.300 – 68 IL ADC 1330.350) States: "An applicant may work as a registered pharmacist for up to 60 days prior to the issuance of a certificate of registration upon receipt of a notice from the Division that the examination was successfully completed."

Role Specific Responsibilities
- Maintains records, processes and monitors narcotic usage.
- Reviews, interprets, and processes provider medication orders.
- Prepares IV admixtures and other medications.
- Educates staff on medication usage.
- Educates patients on medication usage.
- Oversees technician staff.
- Monitors drug therapy, takes an active role in drug utilization , intervenes on the patients behalf as necessary, including conferring with providers and other caregivers about therapy, and documents those interventions.
- Participates in community health related events.
- Obtains and maintains competence in pharmacy, including assigned areas and required continuing education
- Participates in work assignments at other SIH facilities.
