Our Mass Torts and Class Action team handles large-loss, high-stakes cases that require sophisticated legal strategy, extensive discovery, and the ability to coordinate with co-counsel on cases of national importance. As an Associate Attorney, you'll take on meaningful responsibility from day one, conducting legal research, drafting motions and briefs, taking and defending depositions, and helping prepare cases for trial.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise
- Oversee paralegal and law clerk work
- Review documents drafted by law clerks and paralegals
- Ensure case deadlines are met and case is prosecuted in a timely manner
- Participate in Litigation and Execute Strategy on Each Case

- Maintain client communication and provide updates to clients on case status
- Conduct focus groups at appropriate times
- Help set budget and monitor case costs as case progresses
- Help set case deadlines
- Retain experts
- Determine what discovery is needed, draft written discovery, conduct and defend depositions
- Travel for depositions/discovery
- Draft complaints, motions, oppositions, replies and/or review those drafted by law clerk
- Make sure complaints are filed before SOL
- Attend hearings and argue motions
- Develop settlement strategy to present to partner
- Develop mediation strategy to present to partner
- Negotiate settlements
- Attend mediations
- Conduct court-annexed arbitrations, short trials, and trials as necessary
Prepare Case for Trial
- Work with partner to develop trial strategy
- Draft pre-trial motions, or review motions drafted by law clerk
- Help draft opening statement or create presentation
- Help call and interview witnesses
Marketing
- Attend marketing events
- Meals or events with referral partners
- Develop referral relationships
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities (If required):
- Supervise paralegals, legal assistants, medical record specialists, and law clerks
Required Education and Experience:
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- 1-3 years as an attorney at a personal injury law firm or insurance defense law firm.
- Experience with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Experience with Adobe products
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Prior mass torts or class action experience
- Prior complex civil litigation experience
- ESI discovery
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Office setting
- Travel required
