Job Summary
Washburn School is seeking an Early Elementary Teacher with strong skills in classroom management, organization, and English immersion instruction. The ideal candidate will teach English reading and phonics, reading comprehension, Science, and math while building a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom.
Responsibilities
- Establish clear routines and expectations for a positive, structured classroom.
- Teach a single class in a self contained classroom
- Teach English reading and phonics, science, reading comprehension, and math in an immersion setting.
- Create organized, engaging lessons that encourage active participation.
- English instruction at all times to meet emergent bilingual learners’ needs
- Monitor progress through assessments and provide targeted support.
- Foster collaboration, self-regulation, and respect for classroom rules.
- Maintain daily, proactive communication with parents as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support student success.
- Use technology and interactive methods to keep students engaged.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (TESOL, English, or Bilingual Education preferred).
- Proven ability to lead and manage a dynamic classroom.
- Strong knowledge of elementary literacy and math instruction.
- Experience in English immersion or bilingual classrooms.
- Fluent in English
- Excellent daily communication skills with parents and staff.
- Organized, proactive, and consistent in expectations.
- Creativity, adaptability, and patience with young learners.
- Knowledge of child development and positive discipline practices.
