Southampton Playhouse, the East End's premier independent cinema and the only IMAX venue in the Hamptons, is seeking a freelance Social Media Design Associate to produce our monthly social media, poster, and communications assets. This is a contract engagement focused on executing within our established brand system—not original design from scratch.
The Role
You'll produce social media, poster, and communications assets using our comprehensive Graphic Assets Style Guide, templates, and asset library. That includes Instagram posts and stories, showtime graphics, event promotions, in-lobby and print posters, calendars, email/newsletter graphics, and special series artwork. The creative framework is already built — your job is to bring it to life quickly, consistently, and on-brand.
What You'll Do
- Produce on-brand social graphics, posters, and communications assets using our existing templates
- Drop in film artwork, titles, showtimes, and event details across established layouts
- Resize and adapt assets for different platforms and formats
- Adapt distributor-provided materials into our Playhouse-branded templates
- Turn around timely graphics for new releases and special programming
- Maintain visual consistency using our brand style guide
What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in Canva is required — you should be comfortable and fast working within Canva templates
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus
- A sharp eye for detail, typography, and following an established brand system
- Speed, reliability, and the ability to hit deadlines
- Comfort working within templates rather than reinventing them
- Passion for film and cinema culture a big plus
The Details
- Compensation: $1,200/month retainer for up to 40 assets per month
- Term: Initial 3-month engagement, renewable by mutual agreement
- Engagement: Independent contractor (1099), remote-friendly
