Position Summary
The Store Performance and Standards Lead is a field-based leadership role responsible for helping CountryMax stores consistently deliver a clean, organized, and welcoming environment while operating at the highest level of performance. This role travels to all CountryMax locations to reinforce company standards, coach and educate store leadership teams, and support a culture of accountability, pride, and customer-first execution.
This position partners closely with Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers to ensure every CountryMax location reflects the company’s values, brand standards, and commitment to uniquely helpful customer service.
CountryMax Overview: Beginning in 1984 as a small farm supply and feed store owned by the Payne family, CountryMax has grown into one of western New York State’s biggest success stories. CountryMax now operates 19 locations spanning from Buffalo to just north of Binghamton, and employs over 350 team members, a number that continues to grow each year. Over time the product offering as well as store size has increased dramatically- in addition to farm and feed supplies, CountryMax is now a one-stop shop for all lawn and garden products, pet supplies, small pets, clothing and backyard wild bird feeding. CountryMax customers have come to rely on a level of service, pricing, and small-town feel in a way that larger stores cannot replicate- yet they also enjoy the benefits of CountryMax’s extensive purchasing power and flexibility that typically tips the scales between the “big-boxes” and independents.

Key Responsibilities
- Travel regularly to CountryMax store locations to support cleanliness, organization, and operational standards across sales floors, backrooms, outdoor nursery yards, warehouses, and customer-facing areas
- Set, reinforce, and model CountryMax standards for store presentation, merchandising, safety, and overall readiness
- Conduct store walkthroughs and performance reviews, providing clear, constructive feedback and follow-up action plans, identify and correct
- Educate and support store leadership teams to improve execution, consistency, and team engagement
- Assist stores in preparing for seasonal changes, promotions, peak selling periods, and special events
- Support educational efforts by reinforcing CountryMax procedures, expectations, and best practices
- Identify opportunities for improvement and work collaboratively with store teams to drive results
- Recognize progress and successes while helping address ongoing challenges
- Serve as a visible example and leader of the CountryMax brand, culture, and commitment to uniquely helpful customer service
Qualifications
- Retail leadership or multi-store support experience preferred
- Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and store presentation standards
- Proven ability to educate and influence leaders and teams in a positive, respectful manner
- Strong attention to detail with a high standard for cleanliness and organization
- Excellent communication and team-building skills
- Comfortable traveling regularly between CountryMax locations
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Ability to identify and correct problems within a CountryMax store
- Ability to correct problems while training employees and leaders to identify and correct as well
Physical & Work Requirements
- Frequent travel to CountryMax stores
- Ability to walk sales floors, stockrooms, and outdoor nursery areas
- Ability to stand, walk, lift or move store materials as needed
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Monday through Friday availability with the occasional weekend day if necessary
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
