Job Title: Production Supervisor
Location: San Jose, CA
Duration: 6 Month Contract
Shift & Schedule: This position follows a rotating 13-hour shift schedule (3 days one week, 4 days the next).
The schedule includes daily overtime and double time under California law, total earnings are significantly higher than the posted base hourly rate.
Position Summary:
- The Operations/Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising hourly employees and executing production and logistics plans while overseeing the overall operations of the assigned area or shift.
- Responsibilities include warehouse operations, labor relations, production, site security, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Scope:
- Supervises hourly production and logistics employees.
- Collaborates with individuals at all levels within the plant.
- No budget responsibility.
- Directly supervises approximately 17–34 employees.
- Makes decisions impacting plant performance, labor utilization, safety, quality, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and guide operators in executing production and logistics plans for the assigned area/shift.
- May also provide Maintenance Supervisor coverage when required.
- Develop and implement plans and policies to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and SQF requirements.
- Develop and coach team members to ensure production, packaging, and logistics activities meet quality and operational standards.
- Support the development of new Operations Supervisors.
- Lead problem-solving activities to resolve operational issues and improve production performance through the established escalation process.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Digital Training initiatives as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Ensure compliance with all standard work processes, including K-LEAN practices.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, employee safety, sanitation, allergen control, pest control, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support MCRS® sustainability initiatives by achieving area KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
- Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, work rules, and company policies consistently while promoting positive labor relations and resolving grievances whenever possible.
- Identify operational risks and opportunities for improvement and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Promote plant values, employee engagement, and a positive work environment.
- Plan and execute production changeovers in accordance with K-LEAN standards.
- Document and escalate supplier quality issues and non-conformances.
- Participate in daily food safety reviews.
- Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
- Support the execution of operational projects within the assigned area/shift.
- Support talent management, employee development, diversity, inclusion, and training initiatives for hourly employees.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to work in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, including rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when necessary.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage people and lead teams effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
- Experience working in a unionized environment and maintaining positive labor relations.
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant manufacturing or production experience.
