Job Summary
Pride Global is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist/Trainer to support workplace safety and health initiatives at a manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for providing safety and health training to new employees, staff, and supervisors; maintaining training records; and ensuring employees are trained in accordance with OSHA regulations and industry standards.
The EHS Specialist/Trainer will also manage the emergency clinic, assist with first aid response, facilitate GEMBA audits, and lead Safety Committee meetings for both plants. The ideal candidate must be bilingual in Spanish and English and able to translate written and spoken communication between both languages.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Promote and model an organizational culture that prioritizes safe work practices through effective leadership.
- Support continuous improvement of hazard identification and safety risk assessment activities.
- Lead and facilitate Safety Committee meetings.
- Manage the Return to Work and light-duty programs.
- Work with operations teams to reduce and prevent workers' compensation claims.
- Conduct new hire and employee safety training to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and industry standards, including:
- Hazard Communication Program
- Exposure Control Program, including Bloodborne Pathogens and TB
- Hazard Assessment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Program
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Program
- Confined Space Entry Program
- Emergency Action Plan
- Maintain electronic and physical safety training records for audit purposes.
- Manage inspection records for life safety equipment throughout the facility.
- Facilitate workplace inspections, surveys, and audits to identify and eliminate hazards, unsafe work methods, and exposure to potentially hazardous materials.
- Communicate safety issues and concerns effectively to employees, contractors, stakeholders, and management.
- Translate written documents and spoken communication between English and Spanish.
- Serve as an information conduit between facility employees and management regarding safety-related matters.
- Analyze technical data to identify trends related to hazards, events, and occurrences.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and continuously improve safety processes through audits of LOTO, PPE, and industrial hazards.
- Engage regularly with employees to address safety concerns and questions.
- Partner with other departments to resolve ongoing safety issues, implement new procedures and processes, and support new products or product lines.
- Review and approve procedures requiring revisions from a safety perspective.
- Ensure effective plant-wide communication so key stakeholders remain informed and prepared to respond appropriately.
- Perform additional duties and miscellaneous tasks as requested by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Studies, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of safety-related work experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in an EH&S role preferred.
- Experience with conveyor safety and machine guarding safety is beneficial.
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software applications.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work independently with minimal supervision.
- High degree of tact, diplomacy, integrity, and emotional intelligence.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required by safety needs or urgent situations.
- Ability to travel within the U.S. and Canada as needed; must maintain a current passport.

- Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
Work Environment
This position involves working in both office and manufacturing environments. The role may require working in temperature-controlled areas ranging from -10°F to 85°F, as well as exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, and various forms of radiation. Employees must follow all applicable food safety practices and procedures.
The position may involve lifting raw materials, finished cases of bread, and ingredients. All employees are required to wear slip-resistant, safety steel-toe shoes.

- Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Schedule
This is a full-time position with normal hours of 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Schedule and working hours may vary based on safety needs and urgency. The facility operates seven days a week, and employees may be required to work overtime on weekends as needed. Shifts may range from eight to ten hours.
