Overview
The Electronics Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and inspecting low voltage electrical control panels and related equipment according to engineering drawings, schematics, and company quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble low voltage control panels, electrical enclosures, and related components according to specifications and engineering drawings.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), and layout drawings.
- Install and wire electrical devices including relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, PLCs, power supplies, and other control components.
- Route, terminate, label, and secure wiring in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
- Perform electrical continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing of completed panels.
- Troubleshoot wiring and assembly issues and make necessary corrections.
- Verify materials and components against work orders and bills of materials.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable electrical codes.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist with inventory control and material handling as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical or manufacturing issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
Qualifications Required
- Technical or vocational training in electrical technology or a related field.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Proficient in applied mathematics
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred
- Previous experience building electrical control panels or industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems and industrial controls.
- Familiarity with UL 508A standards, NEC requirements, and electrical safety practices.
