Othello Community Hospital is a full-service, critical access hospital located in Othello, Washington. Open 24/7, it provides both inpatient and outpatient care to the surrounding Adams County community with a strong commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare.

OPEN POSITION: Full-Time Laboratory Assistant & Phlebotomist
Othello Community Hospital is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant & Phlebotomist to join our dedicated healthcare team. This dual-role position supports the laboratory department by performing specimen collection, processing, and clerical functions while delivering excellent patient care to individuals of all ages. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and committed to providing exceptional service in a rural community hospital setting.

Location: Othello Community Hospital, Othello, WA
- Departments: Laboratory

Schedule: 40hrs/Week, Days, Holidays, Monday through Friday (6:00am-2:30pm)

Status: Full-Time; (benefit earning)

Wage Range: $21.85 – $39.59/hour
COMPETENCY IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

Phlebotomy
-
Supply management and ordering
-
Outpatient Customer Service

Communicate with other medical facilities for tracking and resulting send-out specimen results
-
Meet current documentation standards and policies
-
Interact professionally with the Director of Clinical Laboratory, Pathologist and clinical laboratory personnel.

Consult with other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Follow standard precautions at all times.

Maintain current knowledge of hospital policy, state, and other regulatory requirements.

Demonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Demonstrate the value of team concepts on a consistent basis.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean

Complete annual educational requirements

Maintain regulatory requirements

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Report to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.

Wear identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly

Attend annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.

Attend staff meetings, if possible. If not in attendance, reads and returns all staff meeting minutes.

Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

Communicate the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department
REGULATORY REQUIREMENT:

Washington State Medical Assistant—Phlebotomist Certification
-
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Basic Computer Knowledge
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Able to sit or stand for long periods of time

Able to walk to other areas in the hospital briskly, when required by an emergency situation

Able to lift and carry for a short distance up to 50lbs.
