High-acuity Cardiothoracic ICU locums opportunity in Sacramento, California for an experienced Acute Care NP or PA with strong CTICU experience.
This is a long-term night shift position with a very stable team that regularly extends providers every 6 months for strong performers.
Position Highlights:
- 7on/7off night schedule available
- Flexible block scheduling may also be considered
- 100% CTICU / CV Surgery ICU rounding role
- No OR responsibilities or first assisting required
- No call responsibilities
- ICU and progressive care rounding coverage
- Collaborative environment with intensivist support onsite
- Providers work autonomously with strong physician collaboration
Clinical Scope:
- Management of post-operative cardiac surgery patients
- CTICU and step-down/telemetry floor coverage
- Mechanical circulatory support exposure highly preferred
- Experience with ECMO, Impella, IABP, and VADs strongly valued
- Bread-and-butter CTICU procedures required:
- Arterial lines
- Central lines
- Independent chest tube management/removal
Additional Details:
- 15–30 ICU beds total
- APP team includes 4 surgical PAs
- Approximately 16 patients per provider
- EMR: Epic
- Start on days initially before transitioning to nights
- Option to pick up additional shifts if desired
Requirements:
- Acute Care NP or PA-C
- Strong recent CTICU APP experience required
- Comfortable independently managing critically ill cardiac surgery patients
- California license preferred
The team is specifically prioritizing candidates with strong CTICU backgrounds who can function independently in a fast-paced cardiac ICU environment.
Pay: $110.00 - $155.00 per hour
