We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Daycare Center Director who shares our passion for child development and early education.
Position Summary:
Barrington Jerome is the newest location for Barrington Schools. We are now officially open in the Jerome Village neighborhood! Our brand-new, state-of-the-art child care center includes (10) multiple age-specific classrooms, dedicated director office space, an indoor gross motor area, two secure outdoor play yards, conference room, a staff break room, on-site kitchen and more. We are looking for teachers to join our team to become a part of our exciting journey as we onboard, train and shape this new location.
As an assistant teacher you will help to run our classrooms ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for the children. This role includes implementing curriculum, creating a safe and engaging learning environment, promoting healthy habits, and fostering each child’s physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth. As a teacher you will also communicate effectively with families, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with state guidelines. Responsibilities span classroom organization, lesson planning, positive guidance, and collaboration with colleagues, while modeling professionalism and a commitment to ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities:
Safe and Healthy Learning Environment:
- Create and maintain a clean, safe, stimulating classroom environment suited to each child’s developmental level.
- Promote healthy habits through nutritious eating practices, organized materials, and orderly routines.
- Ensure safety and preparedness by following emergency procedures and posting required information.
- Maintain organization and compliance through accurate documentation, tidy facilities, and appropriate rest periods.
Supporting curriculum and learning:
- Follow and implement Barrington's curriculum through a balanced of mix of child- and teacher-led activities, as well as quiet and active learning experiences.
- Use indoor and outdoor materials that support physical development, curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving.
- Implement activities that build language, literacy, math, and physical knowledge through hands-on learning.
- Engage with children to provide individualized support for play, exploration, and skill development.
- Lead hands-on, culturally diverse activities that build self-esteem, social skills, creativity, and independence.
- Use positive guidance tailored to each child’s personality and developmental level.
- Foster a respectful, empathetic classroom culture where every child feels valued and heard.
- Maintain consistent routines and smooth transitions, while engaging children in meaningful conversation and responsive interactions.
Parent relationships and professionalism:
- Build partnerships with families, focusing on each child’s strengths and abilities.
- Share assessment results and updates through apps, photos, conferences, and other communication tools.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and attend staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.
- Support colleagues by sharing resources, providing feedback, and maintaining flexibility and consistency.
- Model professionalism and positive behavior for children, families, and staff, including reliability, appropriate language, and demeanor.
- Meet physical and practical requirements of the role, including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and active participation with children.
Qualifications:
- Flexibility in work an eight hour shift within the hours of (6:30AM-6PM) - will do our best to maintain the same consistent schedule
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
- A love for children and at least 1 year of experience working with young children
- Familiarity with state licensing rules and regulations
- Customer Service skills
- Background check required
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable transportation
