Duties
- Assist with food production and meal preparation in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
- Serve meals to residents with professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, dining rooms, and food storage spaces following health regulations such as JCAHO standards
- Support food handling procedures using personal protective equipment (PPE) to promote safe practices for staff and residents
- Help with bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and sanitizing work surfaces to uphold sanitation standards
- Assist with manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of supplies or equipment following safe lifting practices
- Support the dietary department by adhering to food safety protocols, proper food storage, and sanitation procedures
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred
- Familiarity with food production, meal preparation, and food service operations is advantageous
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in a healthcare setting enhances your ability to meet residents’ nutritional needs
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices related to manual handling, sanitation, and food safety regulations such as JCAHO standards is beneficial
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively while multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Certification in CPR or first aid is a plus but not required; willingness to obtain certification upon hire is expected
- Strong customer service skills combined with a compassionate approach are essential for success in this role
