Idaho Site Works is a statewide provider of comprehensive construction services in earthwork, wet utility, commercial and civil works in Nampa, ID. We are seeking a Pipe Layer for our sewer and water projects.
Position Summary
The GPS Specialist is responsible for supporting civil construction and public works projects using GPS, GNSS, machine control, and survey technologies. This position works closely with project managers, superintendents, survey crews, and equipment operators to ensure accurate project layout, grade control, data collection, and machine guidance systems. The GPS Specialist plays a critical role in improving project efficiency, reducing rework, and maintaining construction accuracy on site.
Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 /hr

Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in civil construction, surveying, public works, or GPS machine control.
- Working knowledge of GPS/GNSS systems and construction layout principles.
- Experience with machine control systems such as Topcon, Trimble, Leica, or similar platforms.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Strong computer skills, including data management and file transfer processes.
- Valid Idaho Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain GPS/GNSS equipment and machine control systems.
- Create, manage, and upload digital terrain models, alignments, and construction files for field operations.
- Perform site calibration, localization, and verification of GPS control networks.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and field personnel to ensure accurate implementation of project plans.
- Conduct field verification of grades, elevations, slopes, utilities, and project layouts.
- Troubleshoot GPS, machine control, and survey equipment issues in the field.
- Train equipment operators on proper use of GPS-guided systems.
- Collect and process survey and as-built data for project documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of GPS files, site calibrations, and project data.
- Assist with drone mapping, aerial surveys, and digital modeling when applicable.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, Idaho public works standards, and safety regulations.
- Support construction, staking and layout activities as needed.
- Travel between multiple job sites throughout Idaho.
Preferred
- Associate degree or technical certification in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Topcon MAGNET, Leica Infinity, or similar software.
- FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot Certification.
- Experience working on public works, utility, roadway, grading, excavation, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in heavy civil construction management with supervising experience on large-scale projects
- Strong knowledge of construction site operations, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, Primavera P3, ProCore, Bluebeam Revu, HeavyBid, and other construction management software tools
- Hands-on experience with project scheduling, budgeting, quality control procedures, and contract administration
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately and interpret schematics for complex pipeline or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices for maintaining a safe work environment
- Skilled in using measurement tools such as the ohmmeter for electrical troubleshooting when necessary
- Excellent management skills with a track record of supervising diverse teams effectively in fast-paced environments
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with stakeholders at all levels within the project lifecycle
- Experience in digging and laying pipe in heavy civil, commercial, residential, and multifamily projects.
- Understand grades, elevations, and compaction requirements.
- Strong understanding of grading, earthwork, and construction staking principles.
- Ability to analyze engineering plans and digital design files.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication with field crews and management.

- Ability to walk uneven terrain and active construction sites.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, and operate equipment for extended periods.
