Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and highly organized Litigation and Consumer Loan Enforcement (Replevin) Legal Assistant to join our dynamic 16-lawyer firm located in midtown. This role is essential to our department handling Replevin work.
Who You Are
You are a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, paper-light, and technology-driven environment. You have a strong grasp of complex legal documents, excellent proofreading skills, and a solid understanding of navigating the legal side of car repossessions. In this role, you will be responsible for our vehicle recovery cases from default to successful repossession. You will work directly with auto lenders, court clerks, and local sheriffs to secure writs of possession and get vehicles back for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents and correspondence with precision.
- Prepare vehicle-specific replevin summons, complaints, affidavits of default and repossession bonds.
- Proactively support attorneys by managing deadlines, docketing, and coordinating with clients and court personnel.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and a client-focused approach in all interactions.
- Assist with document management and contribute to firm-wide technology initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a law firm setting.
- Background in Banking and Finance, Bankruptcy, Creditor/Debtor Rights, and auto-finance collections.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with legal technology, electronic filing systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
