Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / MEP Electrical Designer to join our client and support the design and delivery of building electrical systems across a variety of commercial, healthcare, institutional, and mixed-use projects.
This is a 100% remote position for candidates who live in the greater Chicago area. Occasional local site visits and client meetings will be required.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with traditional MEP electrical design, including power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, and construction documentation. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and design through construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency, and life safety systems.
- Perform electrical load calculations, panel schedules, and equipment sizing.
- Develop detailed construction documents using Revit; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Support coordination of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, telecommunications, security, and AV.
- Assist with specifications, RFIs, submittals, and construction administration.
- Ensure designs comply with NEC, energy codes, building codes, and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Participate in occasional site visits and client meetings throughout the greater Chicago area.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of MEP electrical design experience.
- Strong proficiency with Revit; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Experience designing power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and applicable building and energy codes.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
- EIT required | PE is preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
