We are seeking an experienced Public Works Construction Inspector for a temporary field assignment supporting an active municipal construction project in Phoenix. This is a hands-on, early-start role for someone who knows their way around a set of plans and can document what they see accurately every single day.
Pay rate is set at $27.00/hour and is not negotiable. Candidates interested in gaining or expanding municipal inspection experience are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
- Summer hours: Mon–Fri, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
- Winter hours: Mon–Fri, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Nights, weekends, and overtime required as project demands
What You'll Be Doing
- Inspecting public works construction for compliance with plans and specifications
- Reviewing civil construction plans for constructability issues
- Coordinating with contractors and city project staff
- Writing accurate daily and weekly inspection reports
What We're Looking For
- 1+ year of public works or municipal construction inspection experience (required)
- Civil plan review experience for constructability
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong written reporting skills — daily and weekly field reports
Preferred But Not Required
- ADA construction compliance experience
- Temporary traffic control and barricades
- Familiarity with asphalt surface treatments — chip seal, slurry seal, mill and fill
- Familiarity with MAG specifications and City of Phoenix supplemental details
What to Expect
This is a temporary assignment lasting up to one year, subject to project workload. Work is performed outdoors at the project site and surrounding areas in Phoenix. Early morning availability is non-negotiable. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required. All finalists are subject to a criminal background check and drug screen.
Pay: $27.00 per hour
