Principal Cloud and Data Engineering Architect Consultant

Concordant LLC is seeking a Principal Cloud and Data Engineering Architect Consultant to support a state government client's enterprise modernization program. This role provides senior-level architecture leadership for a cloud-native integration platform built in Microsoft Azure, supporting integrations across state agencies, ERP systems, and enterprise business applications.
The consultant will guide solution design, technical implementation, and enterprise adoption of the platform, working closely with enterprise architects, application teams, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, vendors, and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Azure cloud solutions supporting the client's modernization initiatives
- Design and establish scalable cloud-native integration patterns using APIs, event-driven architecture, data integration, and Azure platform services
- Provide technical leadership and architecture guidance to development and implementation teams throughout the solution lifecycle
- Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, technical documentation, and governance practices
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and vendors to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise solutions
- Mentor technical staff and support knowledge transfer while promoting cloud engineering best practices
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise technology solutions
- Minimum 7 years of experience designing and implementing cloud solutions and cloud-native architectures using Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, or comparable platforms
- Demonstrated experience designing enterprise integration solutions using REST APIs, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, and distributed systems
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise data platforms using cloud-based data lake, analytics, or data engineering technologies
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
- Strong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, scalability, and operational support
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (equivalent experience and certifications considered in lieu of degree)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating SAP, SAP S/4HANA, ERP platforms, HR systems, or enterprise financial applications
- Experience supporting large-scale government, public-sector, or highly regulated technology environments
- Experience with Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or Event Grid
- Experience establishing enterprise architecture standards and cloud governance practices
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or TOGAF certification
Work Details
- Remote, with onsite attendance required in Columbia, SC approximately 2 to 4 business days per month, or more frequently as directed
- Background screening required: 7-year standard background check, credit history, MVR, E-Verify, and state background check
- Interview format: virtual, with in-person option available for local candidates

Pay: Up to $146,976.00 per year
