American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma facility in Arizona, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and Level 1 Trauma background.

Acute care hospital setting with a Level 1 Trauma designation
-
24-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit (7NNA) with a 1:3-4 patient ratio depending on acuity
-
Patient population includes cardiac stepdown, chest pain, MI, lung transplant (pre-transplant), esophagectomy, ER overflow, and detox — travelers do not take transplant patients
-
Non-titrating drips administered on this unit
-
Philips monitors used for telemetry; RNs are required to interpret EKGs
-
Vents on unit include CPAP and high-flow oxygen
-
Charting via Cerner EMR with PCs in each room
-
12-hour day shifts, 7am–7pm
-
3 of 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period

Holiday rotation based on unit coverage needs

Float requirement to other telemetry units including T5, T6, and Neuro Tele

Charge nurses are present and do not take patients except during high census
-
2 PCTs available on both day and night shifts
-
SWAT RN (IV Team) available for difficult IV access
-
Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7; pharmacist on the floor during day shift
-
13-week contract

Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted

Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Level 1 Trauma experience is required

Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation; candidates have 2 attempts
-
2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Copy of valid driver's license required for consideration

Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address)

BSN is not required
-
3-day floor-specific orientation provided upon start
-
Pass/fail SIMs Lab required during orientation, covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — nurses have been dismissed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field; competency in sterile technique is expected

Additional orientation includes lifts, restraints, and wound care education (educational only, pass/fail not required)

Pass/fail exam administered on Day 1 of orientation

Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Candidates must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven (for fit testing purposes)

Travelers must have their own personal vehicle
