Bull Stud Lab Analyst
Bullnanza Stud Services is seeking a highly motivated Bull Stud Laboratory Analyst to join our laboratory team. This position plays a critical role in semen evaluation, laboratory operations, quality control, and production support. The ideal candidate will possess strong laboratory skills, knowledge of bovine reproduction, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of animal care and product quality.
About Bullnanza: Bullnanza Stud Services is a livestock reproduction facility with a focus on male reproductive services. These services include semen collection, processing, sexed semen, semen sales, genetic testing, storage and shipping. Bullnanza has two locations in Sweetwater, TX and Stillwater, OK. We are committed to excellence and helping our customers reach their goals.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Animal Science or a related field.
- Experience in semen evaluation and laboratory procedures.
- Background in the livestock industry.
- Knowledge of bovine reproduction and the artificial insemination industry.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Ability to interpret scientific literature and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to operate laboratory and semen collection equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and complete tasks efficiently.
- Commitment to handling animals in a manner that prioritizes both animal welfare and employee safety.
Primary Responsibilities
Laboratory Analysis
Evaluate frozen, post-thaw semen quality by performing:
- Initial motility evaluations
- Incubated motility evaluations
- Semen morphology assessments
- Data entry and quality documentation in EDonor software
- Updating sire production records
- Maintaining animal health and production records
Semen Production
- Print semen straws for daily Bullnanza production and custom orders.
- Prepare semen extenders for:
- Oklahoma in-house collections
- Texas collections shipped to the Oklahoma laboratory
- Assist with semen filling and freezing procedures.
- Monitor and maintain semen filling equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of:
- Filling equipment
- Straw printers
- Laboratory equipment
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and compliance with quality standards.
- BSS Texas: for collections shipped from TX location to OK location
Secondary Responsibilities
Semen Collection Support
Assist collection personnel with:
- Bull collections
- Post-collection semen handling
- Semen processing
- Transporting processed semen to cooling areas
- Loading and unloading bulls
- Handling mount animals
- Cleaning and sterilizing laboratory equipment and glassware
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
Assist with general facility maintenance, including:
- Replacing light bulbs and fluorescent fixtures
- Changing HVAC filters
- Minor building repairs
- Feeding in-house animals
- Basic arc welding and fabrication projects
- Routine vehicle maintenance and upkeep

Training Period
This full-time, salaried position is available immediately. This position includes a required training and observation period, the duration of which will be determined based on readiness and performance. During this time, the selected candidate will receive extensive instruction on Bullnanza Stud Services' procedures, software, and customer service standards. Performance, compatibility with the team, and benefit eligibility will be evaluated upon successful completion of the training period. Due to the nature of this work with animals, early mornings and late evenings will sometimes be required.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, salaried position available immediately. Due to the nature of the livestock industry, occasional early mornings, evenings, and seasonal overtime may be required.
