Location: San Diego, CA (on-site across our Mira Mesa & Poway shops)
Schedule: Part-time, 25–35 hours/week (possibly 1 day a week WFH)
Pay: $29–$33/hour, DOE + Bonuses

SD Sports Cards is a growing business with two brick & mortar locations plus an active e-commerce side with DTC and live selling on multiple online platforms. We're looking for a detail-obsessed inventory accountant/analyst to bring order and accuracy to our stock across every channel we sell and buy through. Compared to most other businesses, our inventory has a higher per item value, and a lower overall volume of items.
What you'll do:
- Own inventory accuracy. Lead recurring cycle counts every 2–4 weeks across both shops, reconcile physical counts to Square, investigate variances, and adjust with proper documentation.
- Track everything we receive. Log incoming inventory (sealed products, singles, slabs, supplies) with accurate unit costs and landed-cost treatment so COGS reflects reality.
- Reconcile across all sales channels. Match inventory movement across the floor, live selling (eBay / Shopify), wholesale, buy/sell activity, and online sales. Each channel has its own quirks — you'll learn them and help keep them clean.
- Keep Square and QuickBooks in sync. Maintain the catalog, categories, and cost data in Square; ensure Square exports flow correctly into QuickBooks; reconcile daily/weekly.
- Monthly close support. Prepare inventory roll-forwards, COGS entries, and variance analyses. Flag shrink, mis-cost items, and slow movers.
- Reporting. Build and maintain reports with our leaders including — sell-through by category, margin by channel, inventory aging, and overall revenue.
- Process improvement. Help us tighten receiving SOPs, count sheets, and channel-tracking workflows as we scale.
- AI Development. We are slowly and carefully integrating some aspects of AI into our business so you'll have the opportunity to learn some of the basics in this arena.
What we're looking for:
- 2+ years of accounting or inventory-analyst experience — retail, e-commerce, or a multi-channel small business is ideal.
- QuickBooks experience. Square POS experience is a big plus (we'll train you on our setup either way).
- Advanced Excel — pivots, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, clean workbook design. You can build a reconciliation from scratch.
- Solid grasp of inventory accounting fundamentals: unit costing, COGS timing, cycle counts, shrink, and basic GAAP concepts.
- Extremely detail-oriented. You notice when a count is off by 1-2% and you care enough to find out why.
- Comfortable working across two physical locations and cross-functionally with our team of associates, floor staff, and the GM.
- Trading card knowledge is a plus but not required at all— we'll teach you the products.
Nice to have:
- Experience reconciling multiple revenue streams.
- Familiarity with barcode/SKU systems and cycle-count best practices in a retail environment.
- Bookkeeping certification or accounting coursework.
Why join us: You'll have real ownership of the numbers in a fast-growing, high-volume operation. This isn't a role where you get lost in a big finance team — your work directly shapes how we buy, sell online and in our shops. If you like building order out of chaos and want to see the impact of your work every week, this is for you.
Please include your resume and a cover letter or brief description about you if you would like to be considered, thank you!
